On this week’s episode, we’re going to share with you the history of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. The motel was just like the bed and breakfasts of today and was a top destination for many African Americans including the likes of Louis Armstrong, Aretha Franklin, Satchel Paige, and Jackie Robinson. Even two famous songs were composed here including Wilson Pickett’s “In The Midnight Hour”.
